Verena Heise

MSc, DPhil

Postdoctoral Researcher

Research Summary

I'm a postdoctoral researcher working with Clare Mackay and Klaus Ebmeier in the Translational Neuroimaging and Neurobiology of Ageing groups.

In my research I use advanced neuroimaging techniques, mainly MRI and MEG, to investigate how genetics and epidemiological measures affect human brain structure and function. My main research question is how biological factors influence brain ageing and in turn the risk of developing neurodegenerative diseases. A better understanding of those factors and the processes in the brain that are most vulnerable to ageing will allow us to develop interventions aimed at preventing or delaying the development of neurodegenerative diseases.
