The effect of APOE on brain function

Investigators: Clare Mackay, Klaus Ebmeier, Verena Heise Dept of Psychiatry

Carriers of the APOE e4-allele are at increased risk of developing Alzheimer's Disease. Mackay’s group have recently shown that APOE genotype is associated with brain function differences using fMRI in young healthy people. We will repeat this fMRI experiment with MEG to characterise the resulting differences in  neuronal signalling, and to harness more sophisticated time-dependent analyses of functional connectivity.
