Deep brain stimulation for chronic pain and movement disorders

Investigators: Prof Tipu Aziz and Dr Morten Kringelbach, Dept of Clinical Neurology, Oxford

Deep brain stimulation has shown remarkable potential in alleviating otherwise treatment-resistant movement disorders and chronic pain, but the underlying neural mechanisms are not well-understood. Studies will use MEG in conjunction with DBS and local field-potential recordings to provide new insights into fundamental brain functions through direct manipulation of both local and distributed brain networks (Funded by the TrygFonden Charitable Foundation).
